Goodmorning.AsfamiliesacrossthenationgathertocelebrateChristmas,LauraandIwanttoextendourbestwishesfortheholidays.

WehopethatthisChristmaswillbeatimeofhappinessinyourhome,andatimeofpeaceintheworld.Inthisseason,wecelebratewithourfamiliesanddeeplymissloveoneswhoarenolongerwithus.ThousandsoffamiliesinournationarestillgrievingovertheterriblelossesthatcametothemlastyearonSeptemberthe11th.Wehavenotforgottentheirlossandwecontinuetoprayfortheircomfort.公務(wù)員之家版權(quán)所有

TheChristmasseasonbringsadeeperconcernforfellowcitizensinneed.Ourcountryisprosperous,yetwemustalsoremembertherearepocketsofdespairinAmerica.Somemenandwomenarefacingthestrugglesofillnessandoldagewithnoonetohelpthemorpraywiththem.OtherAmericansfightagainstterribleaddictions.Someyoungmenhavenofamilybutagang.Someteenagemomsareabandonedandalone.Andsomechildrenwonderifanybodylovesthem.

Weallsharearesponsibilitytohelp,boththroughourgovernmentandthroughindividualactsofcompassion.Inthisseasonofgiving,IhopeallAmericanswilllookforopportunitiestodonateandvolunteerwheretheneedisgreatest.Byreachingouttoaneighborinneed,wemakeourcountryamorejustandgenerousplace.

Ourentirenationisalsothinkingatthistimeofyearofthemenandwomeninthemilitary,manyofwhomwillspendChristmasatpostsandbasesfarfromhome.TheystandbetweenAmericansandgravedanger.Theyserveinthecauseofpeaceandfreedom.Theyweartheuniformproudly,andwearesoproudofthem.

IhavemetwiththeseidealisticyoungmenandwomenacrossAmericaandaroundtheworld.Iknowthesacrificestheymake.Andineveryplacetheyserve,theycanknowthattheyhavetheloveoftheirfamiliesandthegratitudeoftheirnation.

Atthistimeofyear,weappreciatealltheblessingsthatfillourlives,especiallythegreatblessingthatcameonaholynightinBethlehem.TheChristmasstoryspeakstoeverygeneration.Itisthestoryofaquietbirthinalittletownonthemarginsofanindifferentempire.Yetthatsingleeventsetthedirectionofhistoryandstillchangesmillionsoflives.

Forovertwomillennia,ChristmashascarriedthemessagethatGodiswithus,andbecauseheiswithuswecanalwaysliveinhope.TheworldweliveinisverydifferentfromtheworldofancientBethlehem.Ourneedforthathopeisstillunchanged.Inallthechallengesanddangersofourday,westillseekthepromiseofpeaceonEarth.
